The Elgin Avenue: My Perfect Holiday Wardrobe

City break or sun-soaked beach holiday? No matter the destination, pick up a few packing tips from fashion and lifestyle blogger Monica from The Elgin Avenue as she gives us a peek inside her suitcase, as part of our Tales of Summer campaign for SS17.

My ultimate packing tip…

My number one packing tip is to choose a colour palette and stick to it. My favourite for summer tends to be: white, denim and blue with pops of coral and red. If you stick to a firm colour palette every item in your suitcase will work with one another. Monsoon has so many gorgeous summer pieces, I could choose a ‘capsule wardrobe’ many times over! Happy holidaying!

5 items I’m packing and why . . .

1. Lea Tie Dye Long Length Kaftan
Full length dresses are so versatile! Again, this piece is perfect for multiple occasions, but for me I’d love to wear it to dinner with a low chignon, a tan and a pop of lipstick.

2. Georgina Linen Stripe T-Shirt
Stripes are perfect on holiday, and this linen top would look so chic with classic denim cut-offs. I like to buy vintage mens’ jeans and DIY them into shorts.

3. Dory Linen Embroidered Dress
I love to pack pieces which can work for multiple occasions on holiday. This beautiful linen dress works for exploring during the day, over a bikini for beach time and for dinner in the evening. The gold detailing elevates it.

4. Ella Embroidered Pouch
I always travel with multiple pretty pouches – they are so useful for compartmentalising things when you are packing and are such a beautiful and simple accessory on holiday. I use my pouches to pack jewellery and all of my travel documents, and when I arrive at my destination they turn into the perfect accessory! You need so little on holiday – simply pop in your phone, cards, sunglasses and lip balm.

5. Rhonda Round Preppy Sunglasses
Tortoiseshell is my favourite hue for sunglasses; it’s timeless and looks so elegant on everyone.
