Travel Diaries: Kim Turkington in Mallorca

Wander far, wander often. Join us as we follow Kim Turkington, London-based fashion blogger at Love Cloth, onto the sun-soaked island of Mallorca and find out what she’s doing, seeing and wearing in the Mediterranean heat.

Tell us about your holiday destination…

My favourite holiday destination is Mallorca – I’ve been going there every summer since I was a baby. It can be quite touristy in places but if you hire a car or a bike and explore, you’ll find countless untouched beaches and cute little towns. There’s also lots of variety for such a small Island. Port de Soller and the areas around the mountains have beautiful scenic views and Palma is great for shopping, restaurants and nightlife.

How would you describe your holiday style?

My holiday style is quite relaxed and laid back – I love lightweight linens and floaty dresses. Pieces such as the red linen dress are great for both the beach and evening, which helps save on space in your suitcase.

Tell us about the pieces you’ve packed and how you’re wearing them…

I love the linen shorts as they’re perfect for a day exploring in Palma. On holiday I wore them with a gingham top and sandals but at home, I’ll opt for an oversized shirt and trainers.

What are your top three travel tips?

1. I highly recommend visiting picturesque villages of Valldemossa and Deia and that you spend a day exploring Palma.

2. The east coast is where you will find the best beaches with the bluest waters. Try Cala Romantica or Cala Mandia.

3. There are some great hotels in Mallorca – check out Bikini Island, Hotel Cort and Cap Rocat. Even if you don’t stay, the Nakar Hotel in Palma also boasts a great roof terrace which is perfect for sundowners.
