You simply can’t run out of things to do at Blackpool beach. Take a step back in time at the North Pier where you’ll find a carousel, an ice cream parlour, comedy acts and the famous penny slots. Fancy a journey back in time? Take a trip to Robin Hood’s Bay, part of the famous Dinosaur Coast. Hidden among its sandy beaches, you’ll find fossils that are up to 180 million years old! Go armed with a bucket and see how many swirly ammonites you can find.
Not to be confused with Newquay, New Quay in Wales has transformed from a busy port into a thriving seaside destination. The golden sands are perfect for sandcastle building and the sheltered harbour is great for trundling along in a boat but the biggest, most exciting attraction? The Bottlenose dolphins which swim and play in the harbour.
To find crabs scuttling along sideways, fish flitting about, sticky sea anemones and playful starfish, spend the day exploring the rockpools of Killidraught Bay on the West Coast of Scotland. You’ll discover all sorts of weird and wonderful creatures, from breadcrumb sponge to butterfish!
Sandbanks Beach in Poole is widely thought of as one of the best, cleanest and safest beaches in the UK. It’s won the Blue Flag award for 29 years in a row and lifeguards patrol the beach from May to September. It’s also brilliant for paddling as the shoreline gradually slopes into the sea; no unexpected depths!
